The newest member of the Virgin Voyages fleet has finally landed on the West Coast, and honestly, it’s about time. Brilliant Lady is the fourth and final Lady Ship in Virgin’s adults-only fleet, and she’s the first VV ship to ever homeport in Los Angeles — which means a whole new coast of sailors can now try the only cruise line we actually recommend to friends who “hate cruises.”
We’ve been following this ship since her construction days, watched the October 2025 inaugural sailings from the East Coast, and tracked every detail of her dramatic April 6, 2026 arrival at the Port of Los Angeles. This is our full guide to Brilliant Lady in 2026 — what makes her different, what to book, and who she’s for.

Meet Brilliant Lady — The Fourth Lady Ship
Brilliant Lady is the youngest sister in a family of four nearly identical adults-only ships. Scarlet Lady launched in 2021, Valiant Lady followed in 2022, Resilient Lady in 2023, and now Brilliant Lady rounds out the fleet.
If you’ve sailed any of the other Lady Ships, the bones will feel instantly familiar: the red spiral staircase, the open-air running track on the top deck, The Manor nightclub, the sprawling Galley food hall, Richard’s Rooftop for RockStar Quarters sailors, and the soft, modern Scandinavian-meets-rocker aesthetic that Virgin does so well.
But Brilliant Lady is not just a carbon copy. She has the advantage of being last, which means Virgin had four years of sailor feedback to work with. The result is a ship with small but meaningful refinements — a new restaurant, a slightly rebalanced cabin mix, and a fresh design sensibility you’ll notice the minute you step onboard.
Who Brilliant Lady Is For
Brilliant Lady is built for sailors who want a relaxed, design-forward cruise without the kids-club chaos of big mainstream ships. She’s especially great for couples celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary, first-time cruisers who’ve avoided cruising because it felt tacky or crowded, West Coast travelers who didn’t want to fly to Miami just to sail Virgin, and groups of friends on milestone trips. If you’re traveling with kids, this isn’t your ship — every Virgin Voyages sailing is strictly 18+. That’s a feature, not a bug.
Where Brilliant Lady Is Sailing in 2026
This is the most exciting part, and it’s the reason the whole cruise world is watching. Brilliant Lady is Virgin Voyages’ first West Coast deployment, ever. Here’s how the 2026 season shakes out.
Spring 2026 — Los Angeles Home Port
Brilliant Lady arrived at the Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro) on April 6, 2026, in a splashy debut that included harbor fireboats, a Richard Branson press event, and a giant “Welcome to LA” banner across the terminal. Her first paying sailing — the one-time “LA MerMaiden” — departed April 7, 2026, on a five-night roundtrip to Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Ensenada, Mexico.
From mid-April through May, Brilliant Lady is sailing a mix of coastal California and Mexican Riviera itineraries:
- 5-night California Coastal — Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Catalina Island, Ensenada
- 7-night Mexican Riviera — Los Angeles, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta
- 8-night Pacific Coastal — Los Angeles to San Francisco and Astoria
- 17-night Panama Canal repositioning — Los Angeles to Miami (later in the year)
For anyone on the West Coast, this is the first time you can drive or take a short flight to a Virgin Voyages cruise, which is a big deal. LAX and San Pedro are about 20 minutes apart, and Uber rates from most Southern California neighborhoods are shockingly reasonable compared to flying to Miami.
Summer 2026 — Seattle and VV’s First-Ever Alaska Season
In late May, Brilliant Lady repositions to Seattle for Virgin Voyages’ first-ever Alaska season. The Seattle MerMaiden departs May 21, 2026, kicking off a summer of 7-night Alaska sailings visiting Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, and cruising the Inside Passage.
This is genuinely new territory for Virgin. Every other cruise line has been sailing Alaska for decades, so there’s a reason sailors are excited — Virgin’s design-forward, food-first, adults-only approach is a completely different flavor of Alaska cruise than Princess, Holland America, or Royal Caribbean. If you’ve always wanted to do Alaska but couldn’t stomach the idea of a buffet and a shuffleboard tournament, this is your ship.
Fall and Winter 2026 — Caribbean
After the Alaska season wraps in early fall, Brilliant Lady heads south through the Panama Canal on that 17-night repositioning sailing, ending in Miami. From there, she picks up Caribbean itineraries for the winter — a mix of 4, 5, and 7-night sailings, some visiting Bimini Beach Club and other Caribbean ports.
Brilliant Lady Cabins — What to Book
Like all the Lady Ships, Brilliant Lady’s cabin categories are broken into three main buckets: standard Sailor cabins, Suites (RockStar Quarters), and Mega Suites (Mega RockStar Quarters).
Standard Sailor Cabins
- Insider — no window, the smallest and cheapest option. Great if you only use the cabin to sleep, and bad if you get claustrophobic.
- Sea View — ocean view, no balcony. A solid middle-ground for budget-conscious sailors who still want daylight.
- Sea Terrace — the standard balcony cabin, and the category we recommend for most first-timers. Roughly 225 square feet plus a ~40 sq ft balcony with a hammock. The Virgin Voyages sweet spot.
- (Slightly) Smaller Balcony Sea Terrace — new to Brilliant Lady, found on Deck 8. These have meaningfully smaller balconies (as little as 9-11 square feet), but Virgin added two hammocks instead of one. Price is lower than a standard Sea Terrace, so they’re a decent value if you don’t plan to linger on the balcony.
- XL Sea Terrace — larger balcony cabins, good for slightly more square footage without jumping to a suite.
- Cheeky Corner Sea Terrace — wraparound corner balconies that are arguably the best non-suite cabin on the ship. Book early, they go fast.
RockStar Quarters (Suites)
RockStar Quarters is what Virgin calls its suite category, and they’re genuinely different from a typical cruise suite. Perks include priority embarkation, a dedicated Rock Star Agent concierge, in-room full bar setup, access to Richard’s Rooftop (a private sundeck with hot tubs, bar, and snacks), and upgraded bath products. Categories range from Sea Rock Star Quarters up through Gorgeous Suites, with step-ups in square footage, terrace size, and in-room features.
Mega RockStar Quarters (Mega Suites)
The top tier. Massive square footage, private outdoor space with hot tubs, standalone bathtubs, custom perks, and — the kicker — unlimited premium alcohol, a private car at every port, and free Squid Ink Tattoo onboard. In our experience, they’re worth it if you’re sailing with another couple to split the cost, or for a special milestone. For a full breakdown, see our RockStar Suites Guide.
Our Cabin Recommendation
For most sailors, book a Sea Terrace or Cheeky Corner Sea Terrace and put the savings toward a Bar Tab and a couple of great shore things. The (Slightly) Smaller Balcony cabins on Deck 8 are fine for solo sailors or couples who won’t use the balcony much, but most people will be happier with a full-size Sea Terrace.
Brilliant Lady Dining — 20+ Restaurants, Zero Fees
Virgin Voyages changed the cruise dining game by including every specialty restaurant in the base fare — no specialty dining fees, no up-charges, no tacky main dining room with assigned seating. Brilliant Lady has the full 20+ restaurant lineup her sisters are famous for, plus a new signature venue.
Included Restaurants You’ll Find on Every Lady Ship
- The Wake — steak and seafood, sunset views from the aft of the ship
- Pink Agave — elevated modern Mexican, one of our all-time favorites
- Extra Virgin — house-made pasta and classic Italian, located on Deck 6
- Razzle Dazzle — playful, vegetable-forward cuisine with cheeky menu names
- Gunbae — Korean BBQ at grill-in-the-middle tables, a high-energy group dinner experience
- Test Kitchen — experimental tasting-menu dining that reads like a science class syllabus
- The Galley — the food hall that replaces the buffet, with eight different stalls including ramen, poke, burgers, pizza, and a diner
New to Brilliant Lady — Rojo by Razzle Dazzle
This is the big new reveal. Rojo by Razzle Dazzle is a Spanish-inspired, tapas-style concept exclusive to Brilliant Lady. It’s built in the same playful, vegetable-forward DNA as the original Razzle Dazzle, but with bolder flavors, shareable plates, and a more intimate setting. Early reviews from the East Coast maiden voyages have been glowing, and it’s already the hardest reservation to get onboard — so book it day one of your Virgin Voyages app access (~45 days before sailing for standard cabins, earlier for RockStar Quarters).
Pro Tip on Reservations
The Virgin Voyages app opens dining reservations before you board — 45 days out for most categories, earlier for suite sailors. Log in the minute your window opens and grab Rojo, The Wake, and Test Kitchen first. You can walk up to everything else. For our complete dining rundown, see our Virgin Voyages restaurants ranked guide.
Entertainment, Bars, and Nightlife on Brilliant Lady
Brilliant Lady carries over all the signature VV entertainment that makes these ships feel like a boutique hotel with a cruise strapped to the bottom:
- The Manor — the two-story nightclub designed to look like an abandoned theater, where Scarlet Night (Virgin’s signature red-everything party) takes place mid-cruise
- The Red Room — VV’s main theater, hosting original shows that skip the typical cruise production-show cheese
- Richard’s Rooftop — RockStar Quarters exclusive hangout with views
- The Aquatic Club — the main pool area and daytime party zone
- The Runway — an open-air jogging track that turns into one of the best sunrise spots at sea
Bar-wise, you’ll find over 20 bars and lounges on board, from the craft-cocktail High Street bars to the low-key Sip wine bar to Sun Club, the cozy outdoor pool bar. Specialty cocktails cost extra (Bar Tabs are the way to pay — see our full Bar Tab guide), but the basics like coffee, still water, and non-alcoholic drinks are included in your fare.
Redemption Spa and Wellness
The Redemption Spa on Brilliant Lady is worth calling out separately, because it’s unusually good for a cruise ship. You get full access to the Mud Room, Salt Room, Hydrotherapy Pool, cold plunge, Jacuzzi, and Thermal Suite with a day pass (~$75-$100 depending on sailing) — and the whole thing is dramatically cheaper than a comparable land-based spa day. Full-service treatments cost extra, but the passive wellness experience is the sleeper hit of any VV sailing.
Brilliant Lady also has one of the best fitness programs at sea. Virgin includes most group classes — yoga, HIIT, cycling — in your fare, which is nuts compared to every other cruise line charging $15-$30 per class.
What’s Included on Brilliant Lady vs. What Costs Extra
This is the most common question we get, so here’s the quick answer.

- Wi-Fi (Starlink-powered, fast enough to work remotely)
- Basic beverages (soft drinks, drip coffee, still water, juices)
- Gratuities (built into the fare — no auto-gratuity)
- Group fitness classes
- Live entertainment and shows
- Access to Bimini Beach Club (on itineraries that visit)

Brilliant Lady FAQ
Is Brilliant Lady really adults-only?
Yes. Every Virgin Voyages sailing is 18+ only, with no exceptions. This is VV’s most distinctive feature.
What’s different about Brilliant Lady compared to Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, and Resilient Lady?
Brilliant Lady shares the same hull and basic deck layout as her three sister ships, but she introduces the exclusive Rojo by Razzle Dazzle restaurant, adds new “Slightly Smaller Balcony” Sea Terraces on Deck 8, and is the first Virgin Voyages ship to homeport on the U.S. West Coast.
Where does Brilliant Lady sail in 2026?
Brilliant Lady sails from Los Angeles from April to May 2026 on California Coastal and Mexican Riviera itineraries, from Seattle from May through September 2026 on 7-night Alaska cruises, and from Miami in winter 2026 on Caribbean itineraries.
Is Brilliant Lady the first Virgin Voyages ship in Alaska?
Yes. Brilliant Lady’s Seattle season, launching May 21, 2026, is Virgin Voyages’ first-ever Alaska deployment.
How many cabins does Brilliant Lady have?
Brilliant Lady has 1,408 passenger cabins, of which 86% are balcony cabins and 93% offer at least some ocean view.
What’s included in a Brilliant Lady fare?
A Brilliant Lady cruise fare includes all 20+ restaurants, Starlink Wi-Fi, basic beverages, gratuities, fitness classes, and live entertainment, with premium drinks, spa treatments, and shore excursions as the main extras.
Is Brilliant Lady good for first-time cruisers?
Yes — especially if you’ve avoided cruising before because it felt too corporate, too family-oriented, or too old-school. Virgin’s adults-only, design-first, boutique-hotel vibe is a completely different experience from a typical mainstream cruise.
Our Take — Is Brilliant Lady Worth Booking?
Short version: yes, and especially in 2026.
Brilliant Lady is the most refined of the four Lady Ships, and her 2026 deployment is arguably the most interesting itinerary year Virgin has ever put out. If you’re in Southern California, you can finally do a VV cruise without a cross-country flight. If you’ve been waiting for Virgin Voyages to sail Alaska, that just happened. And if you want to do a bucket-list 17-night Panama Canal sailing with no kids, no formal nights, and unlimited specialty dining, Brilliant Lady is the only cruise ship in the world offering that this year.
The ship itself is fantastic — quiet enough to relax, loud enough to have fun, and built around the Virgin belief that a cruise can feel like a great boutique hotel instead of a floating shopping mall. Combined with new cabins, a new restaurant, and brand-new markets, we think Brilliant Lady is the Lady Ship to book in 2026 if you’re choosing between the four.
