Sister Ships, Different Personalities

Valiant Lady and Scarlet Lady are sister ships built on the same platform with identical deck layouts, cabin configurations, and restaurant lineups. On paper, they’re the same ship with different names. In practice, each has developed its own personality based on itineraries, crew culture, and the subtle differences that emerge when any two ships sail different waters for years.

The Key Differences

Itineraries: The Biggest Distinction

This is the primary differentiator. Scarlet Lady is the Caribbean queen, homeported in Miami year-round, sailing 4- and 5-night itineraries to The Beach Club at Bimini, Puerto Plata, Costa Maya, Key West, and other Caribbean ports. She’s the accessible choice — short sailings, easy-to-reach homeport, and the quintessential VV Caribbean experience.

Valiant Lady splits her time between the Caribbean and Mediterranean. During European summer (typically April-October), she sails from Barcelona on 7- to 11-night Med itineraries visiting ports like Ibiza, Marseille, Dubrovnik, and the Greek Islands. In winter, she repositions to the Caribbean or other warm-water destinations. If you want Mediterranean VV cruising, Valiant Lady is typically your ship.

Art and Decor

While the layouts are identical, each ship features a unique art collection curated for her specific character. Valiant Lady’s art leans into themes of courage and adventure, reflecting her globe-spanning itineraries. Scarlet Lady’s collection nods to her Miami personality — bold, vibrant, and a touch rebellious. These differences are subtle but noticeable as you explore the ships.

Crew and Vibe

Crews develop their own culture over time. Scarlet Lady’s team has been together the longest and has a well-oiled, confident energy. Valiant Lady’s crew has developed a slightly more international flavor, influenced by the diverse ports and passengers of Mediterranean seasons. Both are exceptional — VV’s crew training is among the best in the industry.

Which Should You Book?

Choose Scarlet Lady if you want a short Caribbean getaway, prefer the convenience of Miami as a homeport, want to experience The Beach Club at Bimini, or are trying VV for the first time and want a quick, accessible voyage.

Choose Valiant Lady if you want a Mediterranean itinerary, prefer longer voyages (7+ nights), want to explore European ports with the VV experience, or have already sailed Scarlet Lady and want a different destination.

The honest truth: the onboard experience is nearly identical on both ships. Your decision should be based almost entirely on where you want to sail and how long you want to cruise. Both ships deliver the full Virgin Voyages experience — exceptional dining, creative entertainment, and that unmistakable VV vibe.
