Wi-Fi on Virgin Voyages – how good is the free basic Wi-Fi?

I work remotely sometimes and need to stay somewhat connected even on vacation. How’s the basic included Wi-Fi? Good enough for email and messaging? And is the premium upgrade worth it if I need to hop on a video call?

Basic Wi-Fi handles messaging apps (WhatsApp, iMessage), social media browsing, and email just fine. Streaming video or video calls — not so much. If you need to take a work call, the premium upgrade is necessary. I’d say basic is perfectly fine for 90% of vacation use.

I was pleasantly surprised by the basic Wi-Fi honestly. For posting Instagram stories and staying in touch with family, it worked great. Way better than the complimentary tier on most other cruise lines (which barely functions at all).
