Booked a 7-night Med cruise on Valiant Lady out of Barcelona this September! The ports look amazing but I’m overwhelmed with planning excursions. Any veterans of the Med itinerary have tips on what to prioritize at each port?
The Med on VV is incredible. General tip: don’t over-plan. Pick ONE must-do activity per port and leave the rest to wandering. In Ibiza, hit the beach and Old Town. In Marseille, take the train to Cassis for the calanques. In Naples/Capri, the Blue Grotto if weather permits. The ship’s late departures in several ports give you extra time which is a huge VV advantage.
Spend a couple of days in Barcelona before your cruise. The city is amazing and you’ll regret not giving it proper time. Book a hotel near Las Ramblas or the Gothic Quarter and just explore. For the cruise itself, comfortable walking shoes are the single most important thing to pack — Med ports mean a LOT of walking on cobblestones.
