It’s finally happening. Today, April 6, 2026, Brilliant Lady — the fourth and newest ship in Virgin Voyages’ fleet — docked in Los Angeles, officially kicking off the cruise line’s first-ever West Coast homeport season. Tomorrow, the first MerMaiden voyage departs. This is a big deal, and here’s everything you need to know.

The Ship Has Arrived — and It’s Already Historic

Brilliant Lady completed a 16-day repositioning journey from Miami, passing through the Panama Canal and stopping in Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico before arriving in LA this morning. That route alone was a milestone — it was Virgin Voyages’ first-ever Panama Canal transit.

For a cruise line that launched in 2021 exclusively in Miami and the Caribbean, setting up permanent operations on the West Coast represents a serious strategic shift. Virgin Voyages is betting that Los Angeles’s wellness-obsessed, design-forward demographic is a natural fit for what the brand offers: adults-only, all-inclusive, no-formal-nights sailing with a boutique hotel vibe.

We’ve been watching this deployment build for months, and seeing it actually happen today feels significant. Virgin Voyages isn’t just adding a new homeport — it’s entering an entirely new market.

The MerMaiden Voyage: One Night, One Time Only

Tomorrow, April 7, Brilliant Lady sets sail on its LA MerMaiden voyage — the signature inaugural sailing that Virgin Voyages uses to launch each ship in a new homeport. It’s a 5-night, roundtrip voyage out of Los Angeles calling on Santa Barbara (April 9), San Diego (April 10), and Ensenada, Mexico (April 11) before returning to LA on April 12.

Here’s the thing about MerMaiden voyages: they only happen once. This exact sailing — this specific port sequence, this inaugural energy — will never be repeated. After the MerMaiden, Brilliant Lady moves into its regular West Coast rotation with Mexican Riviera and Pacific Coast itineraries.

Virgin Voyages designed this deployment specifically for an LA audience, with enhanced wellness and fitness programming built around what the California market wants from a cruise experience.

What Comes Next: California Coast, Then Alaska

After the MerMaiden, Brilliant Lady stays in Los Angeles through May, running 5- to 8-night itineraries along the California coast and into Mexico, with ports including Catalina Island, San Francisco, and San Diego.

Then the ship heads north for Virgin Voyages’ first-ever Alaska season, departing from Seattle starting May 21 with the Seattle MerMaiden sailing. That 7-night voyage visits the Inside Passage, Ketchikan, Sitka, Tracy Arm Fjord, and Prince Rupert, Canada. Adults-only, all-inclusive, no kids, Starlink Wi-Fi, and 20+ dining options while you watch glaciers drift by. The Seattle MerMaiden is also a one-time sailing — once it’s sold out, it’s gone.

Also This Week: Two More VV Updates

New York Shifts to Brooklyn. As of today, April 6, Virgin Voyages is operating all New York sailings out of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal rather than the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. If you have an upcoming NYC sailing booked, double-check your embarkation point.

Spring Savings Is Live. Virgin Voyages’ Spring Savings 2026 promotion runs from April 1 through May 28, 2026, with up to $1,000 in Instant Savings plus 70% off the second sailor. An extra short-window kicker: book any 2026 or 2027 LA sailing by April 7 and receive bonus Sailor Loot — $300 for RockStar Quarters suites, $50 for Sea Terrace cabins. That deadline is tomorrow.

Our Take

The Brilliant Lady Los Angeles launch is the most significant thing Virgin Voyages has done since completing its four-ship fleet in 2024. Opening a West Coast homeport signals that the brand has proven its concept and is ready to scale into new markets. We think the wellness angle plays well for an LA audience — and the Alaska season is something we’re genuinely excited to watch unfold.

If you’ve been eyeing a VV sailing and have any flexibility to depart from LA or Seattle, this spring is a compelling moment to go. Active Spring Savings pricing, a brand-new homeport, and — if you move fast — bonus Sailor Loot onboard.
