Virgin Voyages does not have self-service laundry rooms on any of its ships. Instead, every ship offers full-service laundry that's washed, folded, and delivered to your cabin. You can send out a whole bag ($55 for regular next-day service or $75 for same-day express) or pay by the piece (from $4 for socks up to $10 for a specialty "eco clean" suit). Sailing Club loyalty members and RockStar suite guests get laundry for free. We've sailed Virgin many times, and below is exactly how it works, what it costs in 2026, and how to pack so you barely need it.
Does Virgin Voyages have self-service laundry?
No. There are no coin- or app-operated self-service launderettes on Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, or Brilliant Lady, and Virgin hasn't announced plans to add them. If you've cruised a line with a deck-side laundry room and the famous "set a timer and guard the machines" routine, that doesn't apply here — there are no guest washers or dryers to use.
What you get instead is a proper valet laundry service. There's a laundry slip waiting in your cabin with instructions; you fill a bag or list individual items, and the ship's laundry team handles the washing, drying, folding, and pressing. Everything is charged to your onboard account (your Sailor band), so there's no cash or coins involved.
How much does Virgin Voyages laundry cost in 2026?
There are two ways to pay: by the bag or by the piece. By the bag is the better value if you have a real pile of clothes; by the piece makes sense when you just need one shirt pressed for a dinner reservation.
By the bag (wash & fold)
You're given a large, reusable bag that holds a full load. Stuff it, fill out the slip, and it comes back washed, dried, and folded.
| Service | Price | Turnaround |
|---|---|---|
| Regular wash & fold | $55 | Pick up before 10:00 pm, back by 5:30 pm the next day |
| Express wash & fold | $75 | Pick up before 11:00 am, back by 5:30 pm the same day |
For context: the bag price was $30 as recently as 2024 before jumping to $55, so don't be surprised if it nudges up again — treat these as current 2026 figures that can change.
By the piece
If you only need a few things cleaned or pressed, pay per item:
| Item / service | Price |
|---|---|
| Undies & socks (clean only) | $4 |
| Press only (iron, no wash) | $7 |
| Wash & fold (washed, not pressed) | $8 |
| Wash & press (washed and ironed) | $9 |
| Eco clean / wet cleaning (suits) | $10 |
Same-day express on by-the-piece orders adds a flat $20, no matter how many items you send. One note Virgin spells out: silk, woolens, flannel trousers, and other delicate items are accepted "at the owner's risk," so think twice before sending anything irreplaceable.
How to get free laundry on Virgin Voyages
Here's the part most first-timers miss: you may not have to pay at all.
Sailing Club (loyalty) members. If you've earned Blue Extras or Deep Blue Extras through Virgin's Sailing Club — including status matched from another cruise line's loyalty program — you get one free bag of laundry (regular service) per sailor. Deep Blue Extras adds two pressed items and one specialty-cleaned item on top. Because the perk is per qualifying sailor, a couple who both qualify can send two free bags; just write the correct name on each slip.
RockStar and Mega RockStar suites. Complimentary laundry is part of the RockStar Quarters experience. Mega RockStars have it best: a full bag of express laundry, free, every single day of the voyage. If you're in a top suite, there's no reason to ever repack a dirty shirt.
Can you bring an iron or get a steamer?
You cannot bring your own iron or your own steamer — both are prohibited for fire safety, and if they're found in your luggage they'll be confiscated and returned to you at the end of the cruise. There are also no irons in the cabins.
The workaround is simple: Virgin will lend you a steamer free of charge for up to two hours at a time. Just ask your cabin host or Sailor Services. For most sundresses, linen shirts, and "it got a little wrinkled in the suitcase" situations, a borrowed steamer beats paying $7 a piece to press.
How to send out your laundry, step by step
It takes about two minutes:
- Find the laundry slip in your cabin (usually in the closet or desk area).
- Decide bag vs. piece, and tick the service level (regular or express) on the slip.
- If you have special requests — separate lights and darks, air-dry instead of tumble-dry, skip the dryer on a delicate top — just write a note. The team will accommodate where it makes sense.
- Call your cabin host or use the in-room tablet to arrange pickup.
- Watch the cutoffs: before 10:00 pm for regular, before 11:00 am for same-day express. Pressing-only requests have an 11:00 am cutoff and usually come back the same day.
Is Virgin Voyages laundry worth it?
At $55 a bag it's not cheap, but the math works in a few clear cases. On a 7-night-plus voyage, one mid-cruise bag means you can pack roughly half the clothes — which can save a checked-bag fee and a lot of suitcase wrestling. On Virgin, where gratuities are already baked into your fare, there's no extra tipping expectation on top of the laundry charge, so the price you see is the price you pay.
It's also a no-brainer if you've got Sailing Club status or a RockStar suite, since it's free. Where it's not worth it: short 3–4 night getaways, or anytime a borrowed steamer and a little planning will do the job for nothing.
How to pack so you barely need laundry
The cheapest laundry is the laundry you never send. A few things we always do on Virgin:
- Pack a wrinkle-release spray. Travel-size bottles smooth out most wrinkles without an iron and weigh almost nothing.
- Plan outfits to the dress code, not to "extras." Virgin's vibe is relaxed; knowing the dress code ahead of time keeps you from over-packing fancy items that need pressing.
- Bring a couple of quick-dry basics. Rinse swimwear or a workout top in the sink and hang it in the shower — that's your free "self-service."
- Use the steamer on day one. Knock out everything that creased in transit in a single two-hour borrow.

Virgin Voyages laundry FAQ
Does Virgin Voyages have self-service laundry?
No. There are no self-service washers or dryers on any Virgin Voyages ship. All laundry is full-service wash-and-fold, charged to your onboard account.
How much is a bag of laundry on Virgin Voyages?
A full wash-and-fold bag is $55 for regular service (back by 5:30 pm the next day) or $75 for same-day express. You can also pay per piece, from $4 for socks and underwear up to $10 for specialty eco cleaning.
Do RockStars get free laundry on Virgin Voyages?
Yes. Complimentary laundry is included with RockStar Quarters, and Mega RockStar guests can send a full bag of express laundry free every day of the cruise.
Can I bring an iron or steamer on Virgin Voyages?
No. Personal irons and steamers aren't allowed and will be confiscated until the end of the cruise. Instead, you can borrow a steamer from your cabin host free of charge for up to two hours.
What is the "30-minute laundry rule" on Virgin Voyages?
It doesn't apply here. The "30-minute rule" is a self-service-laundry-room habit on other cruise lines, and Virgin Voyages has no self-service machines, so there's nothing to time or guard.
Is laundry included in the Virgin Voyages fare?
Not by default. Laundry is a paid service unless you have Sailing Club Blue or Deep Blue Extras (one free bag per qualifying sailor) or a RockStar/Mega RockStar suite. Everyone else pays by the bag or piece.
